A kickstart to Dating- Online trial #1

Some of you may or may not know that I have recently entered into the world of Online Dating in my search to be less meetless. Although I have not really found Melbourne to be a difficult place to meet men in the past, I figure, after living overseas, that I want to be as meatless as possible - at least for the first 6 months.

As extraordinary as this may seem to some (online dating- wahhh?), being the social online network-ly-obsessed person that I am, this wasn't really a big step for me. So, I tried 2 places. The first, RSVP, was like a meat market. It was a quick sign up, a pack of wolves online, and then, what I imagine, like a massive dirty club of single people desperate to hook up and have a one night stand. Something about that, over the computer, bothered me. That's not to say I wouldn't go to a dirty club in Melbourne. Just not online. However, if I become like a desperate hungry wolf online, I'll know where to go.

The next place I joined (after some Swedish man from RSVP was on my email going "Oh you are sooooo cute. Is that too forward? I think you're really cute- want to hook up?" -hence feeling like I was at a club) was eharmony. It was like going from the den of wolves to a boutique bar in the middle of NYC. Cue sigh of relief: ahhhhhhhhhh.

Now, eharmony approaches things differently to RSVP, and so far on eharmony although there have generally been less men available, the quality has been much higher.I'm not going to rave on and advert it just yet, but so far it has been really great! I have already a date lined up when I get back to Melbourne, and potentially another one in the works. Let me tell you about these guys:

Date 1: We will call him Alfresco. The reason for calling him Alfresco: He likes being outside. Like, all the time. He is fit, blonde, and energetic. We have a lot in common- from musical instruments to scuba diving, from travel to family. So he is now my first date-line-up.
Date potential 2 lives in Adelaide, but I think we'll cross that bridge when/if we come to it. His name is Adelaide. Adelaide is pretty cute, and LOVES to travel. In fact, he is in the aviation industry.

That's all from the online dating realm at the moment. I have organised the first day to be late July.. but, of course, there are always complications before that with old "friends". More on that another time!
